Attorney Raymond Yu of the Taiwan Bar Association Shares a New Model of Legal Cooperation

The 32nd Anniversary of the Thai-Taiwan Business Association(TTBA)

On May 25, 2024, the 16th Member Meeting and the 32nd Anniversary Celebration of the TTBA was grandly held at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Attorney Raymond Yu, a representative of the Taiwan Bar Association, attended the conference as a guest and delivered an important speech on how the association can assist Taiwanese businesses in Thailand. His address was warmly received and highly praised by President Chen Han-chuan and Honorary President Guo Xiu-min.

  1. Legal Consultation Services

At the conference, Attorney Yu announced that the Taiwan Bar Association would establish a platform with the Thai-Taiwan Business Association. This platform will provide contact information for lawyers willing to offer legal consultation services to the TTBA. Members can directly contact suitable lawyers according to their needs to obtain professional legal services.

  1. Exchange on Cross-Border Legal Issues

To further enhance the ability of Taiwanese businesses to handle cross-border legal issues, the Taiwan Bar Association will establish a regular exchange mechanism with the Thai-Taiwan Business Association. TTBA will periodically collect members’ questions or difficulties concerning Taiwan-Thailand bilateral legal issues and provide them to the association. TBA will gradually organize a talent pool of lawyers, experts, and scholars to offer constructive advice and solutions for these issues.

Attorney Yu pointed out, “We plan to compile these results into a book for both parties to preserve and reference. This will not only promote the exchange and sharing of legal knowledge but also provide a valuable resource library for both sides.” The introduction of this service aims to offer more comprehensive and professional legal support to Taiwanese businesses, helping them navigate cross-border operations more smoothly.

  1. Reflecting and Discussing Legal Policies or Systemic Issues with Thai Relevant Agencies

When major disadvantages are encountered by Taiwanese businesses in Thailand, the Taiwan Bar Association will assist in reflecting and discussing these issues with relevant Thai agencies, aiming to introduce more resources from the Thai legal community to assist Taiwanese businesses.

“We will ensure that the legitimate rights and interests of Taiwanese businesses are effectively protected by closely interacting with relevant Thai agencies through the Taiwan Bar Association to provide higher-level legal support,” emphasized Attorney Raymond Yu. This initiative will provide a more stable and fair legal environment for Taiwanese business activities in Thailand.

As the Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Taiwan Bar Association, Attorney Raymond Yu has long been committed to promoting legal exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand. In addition to his continuous efforts to enhance the association’s influence in the international legal community, he also founded the Louis & Partners Law Firm in Bangkok, hiring Thai lawyers to provide valuable legal support for Taiwanese business operations in Thailand.

Attorney Yu has also organized and participated in numerous legal seminars and exchange activities between Taiwan and Thailand, promoting experience sharing and cooperation among lawyers from both places. He actively communicates with local legal institutions, helping Taiwanese businesses find solutions in complex legal environments, thus ensuring their legal rights. Additionally, Attorney Yu has assisted the Taiwan Bar Association in establishing comprehensive communication channels with the lawyers council of Thailand, the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court of Thailand, and the Thai Arbitration Institute, linking lawyers and legal professionals from various fields to create a comprehensive legal support platform.

Looking Ahead

The cooperation between the Taiwan Bar Association and the TTBA will provide strong legal support for the development of Taiwanese businesses in Thailand. Attorney Yu stated that the association would continue to strive to promote more legal exchanges and cooperation, offering more professional and comprehensive legal services to Taiwanese businesses.

“We believe that through these efforts, the business activities of Taiwanese businesses in Thailand will be smoother, and the legal cooperation between the two places will reach new heights,” said Attorney Yu. We TBA looks forward to working with the TTBA to contribute more to the economic prosperity and development of Taiwan and Thailand.

President Chen Han-chuan and Honorary President Guo Xiu-min expressed their heartfelt thanks for the support of the Taiwan Bar Association and hoped for more opportunities for cooperation in the future. The conference concluded successfully with enthusiastic applause, marking a new chapter in legal cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand.
