Louis & Charles Attorneys at Law was established in Taipei in 1978 by attorney Ya-Wen Chiu. In 2024, after nearly five decades of practice, the firm merged with Louis International Law Firm, led by attorney Raymond Yu, combining an established litigation practice with recognized strength in technology law and mergers and acquisitions. As a member of Louis Group, the firm advises and represents clients throughout Taiwan, and works with the Group’s teams in Thailand and Vietnam on matters that cross borders — giving international clients coordinated, English-language counsel through a single engagement.
Our chief lawyer, Raymond Yu, trained as an engineer before he trained as a lawyer. That background shapes how the firm works: every matter is broken down into verifiable steps — facts, evidence, procedure, risk — and built back up methodically. “An engineer’s rigor” is not a slogan here; it is the operating manual.
We also know that clients don’t need a recitation of statutes. They need decisions: whether to litigate, what a settlement is worth, how to draft a clause that will actually hold. We give recommendations, not just opinions.
Working from abroad? We regularly represent overseas clients in Taiwan proceedings — running the case locally and reporting in plain English, so distance is never the problem.
